Improving Air Quality in Maindee

An air quality management area is being proposed for Maindee. The proposed area essentially covers Chepstow Road from Clarence Place to Wharf Road together with a stretch of Caerleon Road to Duckpool Road.

Maindee Lib Dem Cllr Mike Hamilton said: "Local residents will be consulted on the proposals before any decision made. If an air quality management area is declared, a plan has to be implemented to improve the air quality in the area. This could result in a number of measures being undertaken such as changing traffic light sequences and parking waiting times".
